Okay, I've been in a total Joe Strummer mode lately. Just read "Let Fury Have the Hour" (a compendium of essays about Joe, the Clash and, well, stuff) which has driven me back to the Clash records. I can't decide if I like The Clash or London Calling better. (Super) Black Market Clash is close behind 'cause it's so stinking weird, then Sandanista!
Also, L-O-V-E the Mescaleros!

The highs are as diverse as "Rock the Casbah" and "Ghetto Defendant" and there are NO lows. -

Re: Fave Clash Album
Tue, March 4, 2008 - 1:05 PMI listened to Combat Rock last night. That was my first Clash record, and I got it when I was in high school. So I bonded with the hits -- basically, the first four songs -- and skipped over the rest. I knew that it was "diverse" but I totally forgot how far away from rock n roll some of the songs are. I think it's Inoculated City that grabbed me last night.
Anyone heard of Carbon/Silicon? It Mick Jones' latest project with Tony James of GenX. They have released three albums (for free!) on their website, but the first two have been removed. Anyone have them? Wanna share?

Re: Fave Clash Album
Sun, March 9, 2008 - 5:25 PMyou may already be aware, but if not: 2 cuts from sid & nancy soundtrack are very worth a look-see. joe strummer was a serious musical genius and i mourn his death still. M.I.A.'s new album features a tune that samples "straight to hell". i was floored. -

Re: Fave Clash Album
Mon, March 10, 2008 - 10:28 AMThe book I mentioned has a complete discography for Strummer, including soundtracks he worked on. I've put them all in my library queue. Gotta make sure Sid and Nancy is there too. Thanks, Tange.
