Yo La Tengo

I got totally lucky the other night and scored a pair of tickets to the Yo La Tengo show here in Seattle Tuesday night. I found them quirky and delightful as ever (though others have lukeish-warm reviews: seattlest.com/2007/10/31/...hi.php#more)

Has anyone heard the new album? It's getting even less warm, luke warm reviews.

I actually love "I"M Not Afraid Of You..." I like the way the first song is such a sprawling rocker, and then it really cools off to a softer kind of pop. Yo La Tengo are always good live.

I couldn't hold out for more reviews from friends. I went and snagged it (and was surprised to learn the album came out a year ago. Where was I?) I dig it. I like the diversity of sounds.

YLT live: One of my favorite things for a band to do is re-interpret their own music, take an old fan favorite and turn it around. YLT is always good for that. I also love that they have an encyclopedic knowledge of music and can play just about anything on demand (witness the WFMU pledge drive appearances they make.)
